ACT Health Alert

Smoky conditions across the ACT have eased this morning and our students have been allowed outdoors.

With current levels, most people will not experience any health impact. However, intermittent patchy smoke haze is expected to linger until Sunday, so people who are more sensitive to the effects of smoke, particularly those with asthma and other heart or lung conditions, should continue to take care. This includes taking medication as prescribed by their doctor and avoiding vigorous exercise outdoors during smoky conditions.

In the coming days, the ACT Health Directorate will continue to monitor the air quality in the ACT and will issue further health advice if needed.

At this time, patches of smoke haze are forecast to continue until Sunday. For further information on weather conditions, visit www.bom.gov.au

AIR QUALITY | Wednesday 11 December 2019

ACT Health has advised that the air quality today will be similar to yesterday.

• Canberrans should continue to avoid prolonged or heavy physical activity outside when there is smoke around.

• People who are sensitive to smoke, especially those with pre-existing heart and lung conditions should take extra care, and avoid all physical activity outside at these times

• Please ensure students with Asthma have their plans up to date.

Holy Spirit students will remain indoors again today. Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding. The students have been outstanding this week.

Due to the heat, smoke and weather forecast, the Community Council have decided to cancel the End of Year Picnic on Thursday afternoon. It will be back better than ever next year!

Dear Parents

ACT Health has advised that the air quality tomorrow will be similar to today, if not worse with temperatures expected to reach 36 degrees.

Parents may wish to keep their children at home.

All students at school will remain inside whilst the Health Alert is in place. With limited use of evaporative coolers allowed, please ensure your child has a water bottle at school.

Dear Parents

Due to the poor air quality as a result of the NSW fires, we will be keeping all students indoors today. Please note that we are also unable to use our evaporative cooling systems due to the smoke. We will endeavour to keep students as cool as possible.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION MASS

Dear Parents

We will celebrate our Year 6 Graduation Mass on Wednesday 11 December at 9.30am in the school hall. The students will receive their graduating certificates at the end of mass and share a graduation cake for morning tea.

We warmly welcome all families to attend this special event.
